Visit from our Burma counterpart CHRO

Last month, Inter Pares received the visit of Salai Za Uk Ling, the deputy executive director from the Chin Human Rights Organization (CHRO)– a long-term counterpart from Burma. Inter Pares’ facilitated a briefing by Za Uk for staff at Global Affairs Canada, who had the chance to learn more about CHRO’s human rights and humanitarian work in Burma’s western region, in Chin State.
 
“Mass atrocities are taking place and crimes are being committed on a massive scale against the people of Burma.”
 
Za Uk and his colleagues work hard to raise awareness, document abuses, and advocate to protect the rights of Chin people, including against forced labour, political suppression, racial discrimination, and religious persecution, committed by the Burmese military junta.
